News Release: Kent Bressie to Lead Panel on the Challenges of Undersea Cables in the South China Sea at Submarine Networks World 2014 in Singapore
Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP partner Kent Bressie will chair the South China Sea panel at the Submarine Networks World Conference (long known as “SubNets”) to be held in Singapore October 14-15, 2014. This panel will address the challenges of conducting marine surveys, installing new undersea cables, and repairing existing undersea cables in an area subject to a tangle of jurisdictional disputes and significant political tensions. In spite of the political and regulatory risks, the South China Sea remains a critical transit corridor for undersea cables providing connectivity for Asia and Australia. His fellow panelists will include senior industry executives and academic experts.
SubNets is the leading annual conference dedicated to the global undersea cable industry. The conference features executives and opinion leaders from prominent global providers, with a particular focus on Asia.
Kent specializes in cross-border regulation of communications infrastructure, investment, and technology and heads HWG’s international practice. He works extensively in the undersea cable sector and has led various industry-wide regulatory-reform and cable-protection initiatives.
