Washington, D.C. — August 9, 2021 — HWG is pleased to announce that Sam Walsh, formerly a partner in the firm’s energy practice, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Mr. Walsh, who was appointed for the position by President Biden earlier this year, has devoted his career to addressing issues involving energy policy and law. He joined HWG in 2017 after serving as Deputy General Counsel for Energy Policy at DOE.

Mr. Walsh received his law degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, his M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School, and his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Yale University.
