HWG is pleased to announce that Stephanie Weiner, formerly a partner in the firm’s telecommunications practice, has joined the Department of Commerce as acting Chief Counsel of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

Ms. Weiner, recognized as one of the of the leading telecommunications lawyers of her generation, has held senior positions in private industry, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and Department of Energy. She joined HWG in 2016 after serving as Senior Legal Advisor to the FCC Chairman Wheeler, where she oversaw all FCC matters relating to broadband competition and deployment.

“Stephanie is an extraordinary lawyer with a gift for building and leading successful teams,” said John Nakahata, Chairman of HWG, “We are thrilled for her and for the service she will undertake for the country as NTIA oversees once-in-a-generation broadband grants across the country.”

Ms. Weiner received her law degree magna cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law, her master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago, and her undergraduate degree from Brown University.
